There were a lot of crappy products out on the market that Microsoft improved on. That IS competition. Do you think McDonalds invented the hamburger? GE the TV? Walmart the store? Apple the computer? Innovation comes not just from inventing something new, but from taking something existing and making it better. Otherwise we would all be stuck with the same color/style of phones that Ma Bell had years ago.
