Somebody else saw the logistical powerplay by DST on USCS....

infoseek.com

Better put DST on my watch list...to track their moves.......Looks like Killen is called for a <10% shift in billings, [8 of 67], the first year of service...think that is strong?

As for talk of 20's purchases...depends on your timeframe.

DST Systems and USCS International Merge; The EBPP Marketplace Heats Up
07:31 a.m. Sep 11, 1998 Eastern
PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 11, 1998--The merger announcement last week by DST Systems and USCS signals the arrival of significant business opportunities for aggressive companies in the EBPP services market.

According to research by Killen & Associates, electronic delivery and bill payment services (known as EBPP) will garner an increasing share of repetitive billing services. The company expects nearly 67 billion repetitive billings worldwide by year end 2000, including telephone, electricity, gas, water, CATV, and other utility services.

"Billers and suppliers consider 1998 to be the year for establishing EBPP strategies," stated Michael Killen, president of the market research firm.

"1999 and beyond will witness a full assault on the repetitive billing marketplace. DST, a software and services supplier to the mutual fund, banking, and financial services industries, sees EBPP as a very important, developing business. By buying USCS, a leading suppler of cable and telephone billing services, presentment services, and bill preparation, DST has served notice that they have targeted this market for major expansion."

The merger validates a number of findings in Killen's new 3-volume study, Electronic Bill Presentment and Payments Markets: Strategic Impact on Billers, Third-Party Processors, Bill Publishers, Banks, and Internet Portal Companies. The study provides a working understanding of EBPP, includes analyses of key banks and other financial services providers, and discusses both leading and potential vendors who need to form alliances or make acquisitions in order to develop a full EBPP capabilities set.
