NEW YORK, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley Dean Witter on Thursday raised four nonferrous companies to outperform.

Raised Cyprus Amax Minerals Co. <CYM.N> to outperform from neutral. Cyprus closed Wednesday at 11-7/16.

Raised ASARCO Inc. <AR.N> to outperform from underperform. ASARCO closed Wednesday at 18-5/8.

Raised Alcan Aluminum Ltd. <AL.N> to outperform from neutral. The stock closed Wednesday at 36.

Raised Commonwealth Industries Inc. <CMIN.O> to outperform from neutral. Commonwealth closed Wednesday at 6-1/2.
