According the editor of the "Digital Publishing Design Graphics; May98":

1. Compaq workstations will be the choice of most creative professionals-regardless of their operating system choice.

2. The purchase of DEC, Thompson Conrad, and Tandem will support CPQ's effort in becoming the number one high-end graphics workstation supplier....worldwide service organization, and high-end enterprise server system.

3. Quark and MetaCreations have release products on the DEC Alpha platform. Quark is even phasing out all of its Mac systems in favor of the DEC Alphas.

The article supports my belief that Compaq will obtain a greater share of the lucrative enterprise computing market...however it's a long-term view.

Any comments?

I appreciate your point. It would probably be worthwhile to do a sensitivity analysis on the impact of slowdowns in these areas on overall performance, but it would take a little work to get the underlying numbers. Any volunteers?
