I think ASND+LU is dangerous to CSCO, but CSCO also knows that mergers take time to work out. Note how long it took CSCC and ASND to get moving again.. So, CSCO is probably less concerned than we all think.

As for ASND defections IF CSCO were to make an offer...I doubt it. First CSCO has very attractive pakages intended to keep the best and the brightest. Second, where would the defectors go? Not too many other networking jobs in the east bay. Finally, why would more folks defect due to a CSCO takeover than a LU takeover??? At least with CSCO there is better synergies relative to desire to move the market.

As for the DOJ... I'm not sure they would intervene due to LU, NT, ERICY, ALA, NN, etc... I think there are plenty of substantial competitors out there. But, in the end it would be anybody's guess.
