Another Delta question:

they are fully booked. no comfort from supplier that LOR/G* can improve the time. They would love a Delta now, to imploy immediately. Delta is just fully booked. 14 sats are ready and waiting in Ukraine. Availability of rockets is reason for length of schedule.

$85 million incremental cost, $275 million - 190 million from insurance

C* will not be affected.

additional capacity issue for the industry due to losses, release got out as early as possible. People at G* were "working all night long" to get that PR out.

Lost marketshare?

BS doesn't think this is an issue. Limited capacity is currently out there. 7.5 million, I* is 3, ICO is 1...or so. Lead time I* will have is going to remain at 6 months. Not a significant issue for LOR/G*.

Is Zenit done? Is it possible the Chinese vehicle could be pressed into service?

Not PC question to ask. Don't want to use Zenit, only once risk factor is behind us.

Going for safety first, and are satisfied with the new launch schedule.

Jim...

on funding again...
total funding need in 1999? $85 million. some other operation and interest costs of about $100 million.

What is the total financing needs for 1999? LOR/G* needs to review that some more, no comment. More than $400 million. Need to clear this up.

What are the funding plans?

Have not addressed this. Depends on market conditions, time is needed to analyze it.

At the G* level, money will have to come in one way or another.

Orion 3 on a Delta III launch is scheduled and is firm for Feb 1999. Expected, but Delta must conclude investigation.

Brad Perry?

Possibility of another launch failure? Make new satellites? Spares in orbit? Back up aspects?

without fault, 52 satellites. 52 is correct. 8 in-orbit spares. That should be enough, one more loss would give us 4 available. This is if all future launches go well, two losses would exceed the industry average and would is not expected.

general level of confidence of investment going forward. no question of committment to complete what they are doing here. BS met with two partners QCOM and Airtouch last week, and everyone is very supportive, more than rhetoric, especially from AirTouch.
