<<Inprise Corporation Introduces VisiBroker SSL
<<Packs: a New Level of CORBA-based Security for Distributed
<<Applications & Web Transactions
<<
<<
<< SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 1998--
<< Inprise Corporation (NASDAQ:INPR), a premier provider .....
<<announced the availability of VisiBroker SSL Packs for Java and C++
<<the first CORBA object request broker option to provide ...
<<Java and C++ security services to Web transactions. The announcement
<<was made at the COMDEX/Enterprise '98 tradeshow being held here this
<<week.
<< "In today's global arena, Information Technology has become a
<<competitive differentiator for large enterprises. As companies more
<<frequently deploy sensitive, mission-critical applications with
<<Internet-based technology, security is a paramount concern," said M.
<<H. Rudov, Inprise vice president of enterprise marketing. "With
<<Inprise's strong security support, enterprises will be assured the
<<consistent, secure communications and failsafe transact-s that allow
<<them to maintain a competitive advantage. Without this security,
<<enterprises cannot efficiently leverage the Internet to obtain ...
<<information, enjoy a faster time to market, and ... lower
<<costs."
!!!<< With today's announcement, Inprise is the first ORB vendor to
!!!<<offer full support for Java and C++ object transactions ...
!!!<<via Netscape's Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL), providing
!!!<<encryption and authentication capabil-s to Web servers/browsers,
!!!<<and clients. ...
<< "We are including the VisiBroker SSL package in our
<<implementation because of the important legal and ethical
<<considerations around the confidentiality and integrity of the med.
<<data we work with," said Bart de Greef, System Architect, Philips
<<Medical Systems. "Secure communication is a critical issue, and
<<Inprise's addition of HTTPS support to the VisiBroker SSL Pack for
<<Java means we can combine powerful security capabilities with
<<functionality that supports rapid deployment and ad hoc usage or
<<modification. As evidenced by these new security enhancements, INPR
<<underst-s and delivers solutions that will help us integrate legacy,
<<custom, and packaged applications in an intranet environment."

I think this is BIG! Read before short!
This is the only SSL ORB on the market now as I understand.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.
This might even pull us up on the all down day.

Note: I cut the message for readability.
P.S.

As well it should. The extremely ethical(!) people who maintain our credit information internationally are making a bid to hold the international medical records database.

Look for credit to be based on your medical condition, explicitly or tacitly.
