I do not believe profitable trading can be taught, just like race car driving cannot be taught. Yes ,you can give someone the basics and explain what soes , selectnet etc stands for and how to use it , just like you can teach someone where the clutch is and how to use the brakes but that doesn't make the student an indy 500 champion. Trading is a mental game and therefore the trading style and the stocks you choose need to fit your personality. I am sort of risk averse and very fast to pull the trigger if I make an eight , I take it , if I looose a 16 th I am out. This is my style it works for me and I am happy with it. Other people are very succesfull with using different daytrading techniques and who am I to say that my style or their style is better. When I first started trading I was sitting next to a guy who made 1 million dollars a year daytrading. So I thought , cool I just follow what he does. Well guess what, it didn't work, his style was to gutwrenching for me , I would panic, not be able to get filled etc.. It was his style , not mine. The stocks he traded , YHOO etc , didn't fit my personality and I had to find my own style , which did cost me some money ( my tuition) Eventually however through trial and error I was able to find my nitch in the daytrading world, I made my own rules where I try to stick by and I am still learning every day. I really do not think anybody could have taught me to trade the way I do because I have not met anybody that trades exactly like me. In the 2 years that I have been daytrading I have not met many people that trade exactly alike, most succesfull people just go out and craft through their own style. Think about it , if it were really that easy to to pay someone 5 grand for a training that will make you profitable everyone in the country would be doing it. ( 5 grand is a lot cheaper then 4 years of college) and that would render the techniques taught useless. So my recommendation , go to a firm that lets you papertrade and hang out for a few weeks , till you discover what works for you. Use a firm that gives the traders all necessary tools, 2 big screen monitors per person, free charts , news , access to all the tools etc.. and Look around , see what other people do , see what works for them , and if it works for you , steal ideas from people, chat, watch learn and listen then go to work for yourself. If the firms management is really trader focused they should welcome people with an attitude like that. Within that month you will learn the tools by watching people, read a few books, maybe order an online class and if the firm is really good they will teach you techniques and give you ongoing support for free. Trading is not a ready made package that you can purchase at the " how to become a millionaire store ",think about if it were that easy why is the guy teaching a class and not trading himself ??
