Hi Chuzz,..Re:Parallel path for Dell expansion

We discussed this topic in June I believe and you were interested in the home/entertainment hardware area and I was interested in xDSL semiconductors since new product will increasingly contain standard modems for xDSL connections. The reason I liked bandwidth semis was because of the obvious growth in communication technology. But Michelle brings up another point to consider.

That point being that in order to utilize Dell's JIT/BTO models to the maximum extent, the product should be a low margin type device/product. This is an interesting point and now I'm trying to figure out why. I would have intuitively thought, based on Dell's business execution on their server products (which are high margin relative to the PCs) that a high margin product would be better suited. I still like the xDSL idea though.

By the way, the xDSL stuff fits in with set top box type consumer devices as well. So we both might be on the right track?

Michelle - can you help out with the margin question?

Best,

Lee
