Among them were 3Com Corp. <COMS.O> and Ascend Communications <ASND.O>, which were rumored to be possible targets of Intel Corp. <INTC.O>. Separately, Bergen Brunswig <BBC.N>, Comsat Corp. <CQ.N> and PSS World Medical Inc. <PSSI.O> were also at the center of takeover speculation.
