REEL.COM AND EXCITE STRIKE COMMERCE AND CONTENT
RELATIONSHIP

Leading Online Movie Store Now Preferred Video and DVD Merchant on the
Excite.com and Webcrawler.com Entertainment and Shopping Channels

09/10/98 -- EMERYVILLE, CA -- Reel.com Inc., (www.reel.com), the leading online
movie store, announced a partnership with Excite Inc. that names Reel.com as the
dominant and preferred video and DVD merchant on the Excite.com and
Webcrawler.com Entertainment and Shopping Channels, and calls for the integration of
Reel.com's proprietary content into search results for movie titles, actors, and directors
on both Excite (www.excite.com) and Webcrawler (www.webcrawler.com).

Movie lovers will be able to browse Reel.com's movie information and buy movies at
Reel.com through movie-related searches on Excite.com and Webcrawler.com.

"Reel.com is clearly a leader in the on-line movie arena," said Kenny Wachtel, senior
vice president, sales, Excite Inc. "This partnership represents a partnership of both
content and commerce. By combining Reel.com's expert movie information and the
Excite's shopping and entertainment expertise, we're giving Excite and Webcrawler
users access to the best movie information available, as well as the ability to purchase
these movies on-line."

Channel.

The Reel.com content that will be in movie-related search results include "Movie
Matches," "Movies at a Glance," "Reel Snapshots," complete director, actor and actress
filmographies, cast, and credit information. This movie information is developed by
Reel.com's staff of more than 40 writers whose expertise and knowledge of film extends
to all movie genres.

These writers deconstruct the films in Reel.com's library rendering detailed "Reel
Snapshots," 30-word descriptions crafted to touch on the film's theme and overall
look-and-feel, and "Movies at a Glance," a chart that scores the movie's basic anatomy
such as how much suspense, violence, and action a particular film has. The writers also
provide "Movie Matches," a listing of films that share similar profiles and themes with
the movie selected.

Reel.com also offers "Filmographies," which lists an actor's or director's entire body of
work. These features are hyperlinked, searchable, and browseable to facilitate
exploration of the company's vast film selection while also providing an invaluable
online movie reference tool.
