Yes you are correct Evans did not call Amazon a tech company. I was jumping around to multiple sites last night and even posted this on the Excite thread instead of Amazon. Still I have seen several references to Amazon as a tech company and it does seem to be valued as one.
Here at SI we are concerned about stock prices and direction. My point is that they are in a low tech highly competitive industry for which the cost of entry is low. There is little or no competitive or tech. advantage. What makes them special, what justifies the current stock price? Seemingly nothing.
They are the leading bookseller on the Internet... and still losing money, probably for years. By then what will the competition be like?
