Skeeter,

<<before averyone gets their panties in a wad about intel, realize that there is something novel called seasonality. also, expectations were crappy to begin with. intel, at best, is a very slow growth company that isn't priced like it.
this is more like a "are death has been greatly exaggerated" announcement vs an "everything is great in rosy scenario..." announcement.>>

Thanks for the concern about my panties.

Perhaps, some day after I resolve the wad issue with my undergarments, you can explain the vagaries of seasonality to me (color pictures and graphs help).

I really do not get very excited by quarterly reports. However, I am intrigued by the gross margin guidance (especially the 200bpt sequential increase that is presumably weighed-down by some one time expenses) and the reasonable demand picture.

PC demand, no matter how you cut it, is a big deal. It is a big deal for the entire economy. It is a big deal if you own SemiCaps or DDrives or MU.

I am not reading 5.0% GDP growth for 1999 out of this announcement. I just think it is an interesting data point.
