Why NOVL you ask? Two reasons...

One is fundamentals. They've got some half decent network products coming on line this month. Novell thread is pretty lively lately and on balance positive about company direction (lately).

Two is technical. Stronger than market as a whole lately and definitely showing a lot of strength the last couple of days. May be due for breakout.

I understand they've had problems the last few years and the stock buy-back plan may be a red herring.

To each his own

CD

p.s. I think you mean "shudder" rather than "shutter"

Hi Jane,

I've been an active participant on the NOVL thread since DEC97 and investor of the stock. Just wanted to give you a few updates on the questions you had asked earlier.

<<
NOVL??

May I ask why? Have they spent the 1b yet? Making inroads into MSFT marketshare? {{No Dr. Eric Schmidt, CEO, hasn't been spending the 1 billion cash too much just yet, but there was an announcement on share buy back (up to 35 mil shares over next year) in May98. Inroads into MSFT marketshare, well, we'll see as NetWare 5.0 launches next week, while NT5.0 is delayed another year into mid-1999}}

Sorry, each time NOVL is mentioned I shutter.

Is Joe Antol still taking care of biz on the NOVL thread? Poor guy has worked his you-know-what off the past
few years trying ot organize a grass roots movement on behalf of shareholders for the company to do
something to increase shareholder value. My best freind's brother was a department manager for NOVL up to
a year ago. He was hired away from Digital Corp. by NOVL for his expertise, but after almost two years of
what he called "frustration" with the company and management to get things done...he left for a Silicon
startup.

{{Joe basically withdrew from the NOVL thread in April98, I suspect because he finally realized that Eric Schmidt was moving the company forward and his grassroots efforts and cynical views on past NOVL were no longer needed, as he sensed a new NOVL. Perception is important I agree, but new products (NetWare 5.0 release this Sept. 14), increasing sales, meeting deadlines, along with new board members to NOVL BOD (Bill Joy of SUNW, and Reed Hundt former FCC director), have poised NOVL for a comeback IMHO. I bought most of my shares under "8", and have been patient with this investment. So far I'm VERY impressed with Schmidt's skills as a technologist, but more importantly, a businessman. I'm into 9 months with this investment (pregnancy). Time for the baby to hatch next week.... =;-) }}

You never know though...its all perception. {{well perception yes, but a CEO that knows how to build a fallen company back up, brick by brick with marketable productrs....otherwise its a house of cards like some internet stocks out there}}

Regards,

QuadK
