While not pertaining to the Adobe situation, I thought I'd chime in with a little rumor culled from the back page of the latest eMediaWeekly.

"Silicon Graphics' Alias/Wavefront division was recently seen on a road tour show a new character animation package- for the Mac. According to sources, the performance of the software, running on a prototype G4-based machine, equaled that of its Unix counterpart on an SGI 02 workstation"

In case you don't know, the 02 is SGI's entry level workstation, although a bad mother all the same. I believe the entry price on an 02 is ~$7000 last time I checked. What's more, an 02 is designed specifically with high-speed graphics in mind. It has such nifty ideas as a memory system that is shared between the video, main memory, and the rendering engine. That an Apple prototype machine can equal an 02 is extremely impressive.
