Thanks for a wonderful read Laura!!!

The article highlights the key points in Dell's success, and also throws the spotlight on a true genius. I have been saying for some time that it is Meredith's genius which as given substance to Michael Dell's vision. The financial engine that Meredith has created is without par.

I believe that Meredith is the finest CFO of any major corporation.

Great post, thanks.

The metrics that go into DELL's cash conversion cycle are what put DELL in another league, IMO. The competition can try to copy its build-to-order model, but it will be difficult if not impossible for anyone to even approach their numbers for DSO, DSI and DPO, unless they build a new company from the bottom up. And that's not easy. The kind of half measures towards direct order that we're seeing from Compaq et. al. simply can't cut it when measured by the CCC. DELL is a cash machine, and is very difficult to replicate their model despite what the naysayers might think. This is the place to be if you're long.
