Front page of today's Globe & Mail...headline "Heat melted cockpit panels". The article goes on to read..."(the pilots had initially reported smoke), with the possibility that it eventually became horrific, perhaps even intolerable, in terms of heat or molten material dropping from above".

I continue to wonder if this system failure could have been little more than a minor problem if not subject to such apparent combustion.
