OT:
It's comforting to settle in with a bunch of 50ish folks who have been immersed or dabbled in the tech realm all these past 30 years. After college in '64 at my first real job as an Engineering Tech at the State of Illinois in Springfield I had to sit in on a 3 week course in COBOL in order to make the judgment call regarding the dept's use of the new IBM comp.

I jumped ship and went into grad school in experiemntal psych for 7 years, along the way learning some multivariate stat and comp application software... I quit just before doing the dissertaion, but continued to consult at university computer centers in Illinois and FLorida until I escaped into stained glass and kaleidoscope efforts (the last 20 plus years). I admit to being bored with craftwork after a few years and I have been a strong dabbler in hardware and software for my own use and amusement since the early '80s. I used to try and keep up with ALL new stuff in the PC world. Every year I was forced to let a major whole arena drop by the wayside--- now I surf, "gamble", and play with apps, occasionally building up machines for others and solving problems locally.

One of these days I really would like to master a low level language, but everytime I think about it I start to fall asleep!
