LIBERTYVILLE, Ill., Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Motorola's
Personal Communications Sector announced it has signed a $100 million
agreement with Bell Atlantic Mobile that includes the supply of digital
phones for its new service program. Motorola's SC-725 Code Division
Multiple Access (CDMA) phone will be featured exclusively in both
newspaper and magazine advertisements beginning today highlighting Bell
Atlantic Mobile's DigitalChoice SingleRate(TM) service plan. The
lightweight SC-725 CDMA phone will be the first of Motorola's digital
phone products to be available during this promotion.

Weighing as little as 7.0 ounces, the SC-725 digital phone provides
extended talk and standby times to consumers -- up to 210 minutes of talk
time or up to 30-48 hours of standby time with the optional Extra Capacity
Lithium Ion battery. Additional phone features include: Internal Charger,
enhanced phone book capability, large graphic display, headset capability,
Voice Mail notification(see note) and Text Messaging(see note)."

Except. The last time Brazil did this was shortly after the Oct 27, 97 Wall Street crashette. Worked like a charm for them in about a month. Pressure eased dramatically. They were able to then sharply lower interest rates. Confidence came back. (Though admittedly, not completely. There or anywhere else in the developing world.)
