My $.02: In this country we have had a shift in official values occur - a sort of sexual glasnost. "Sexual harassment" used to be a Forbidden Topic. Now it has been "outed" and is quite fashionable. As usual, there is a balance of good and bad that came from this. Good in that harassed women, gays, etc. finally get to speak up about it without being derided or peremptorily shooshed. Bad in that it seems that every new cause celebre seems to start an overcompensation. As a New Liberal Democrat, Bill Clinton assumed the mantle of the Champion of the Underdogs. These currently include the sexually harassed. By engaging in behavior which is expressly against the platform of his own party, he is rightly exposed to these questions which you suggest "should not have been asked". Frankly, if he had any guts, he'd'a answered them correctly the first time and then dismissed the entire proceedings as undignified newsporn. Instead, he weaseled. Starr did his bulldog schtick, and now we have these cute "White House in Crisis" graphics onscreen to give the anchorcritters something to look good next to. As far as presuming politicians to be untrustworthy - cynicicm aside, that is simple common sense. But any politician hamfisted enough to be provable as untrustworthy should get the full&righteous wrath of the system directed at him. Jmho.
