I was commenting about the "THE ONLY REASON" part of the argument by the original poster. For crying out loud, Japan and the whole of Asia is under a financial crisis for nearly a year now! That, in fact, is the major factor that is driving the market (and driving it nuts, I may add!).

But I agree that the uncertainty regarding the President's fate has been a (relatively minor) factor in the market's gyrations. However, I see it as yet another sign that the market was enormously overvalued (and still is, to some extent). I don't buy the argument that it was not overvalued just because Brinker didn't think it was.
