Good Morning Theodore,

What I was referring to with Moynihan was more questions about his drinking. Remember John Towers got crucified for that. Now I don't know if Moynihan is a heavy drinker but there have been stories in New York. Frankly I prefer an honest drinker to a liar but I'm not sure what the rest of the country would feel. But to repeat I like Moynihan and that from a Libertarian with moderate Republican leanings.

Regarding wether Mario or Pat is the rest of the countries stereotype of a New Yorker, I don't know what the rest of the country views as typical. But growing up in blue collar neighbourhoods in NY I think I ran across more guys that remind me of Moynihan than Cuomo. But then I grew up in the same neighbourhood as Jimmy Breslin and played football with some of his kids so that could explain it. If I had grown up playing basketball with Italian kids I might have met more people like Mario :)

Henry

Ted,
You're "dumbfounded by the effectiveness of the sophomoric propaganda techniques used in defence of Clinton's chronic, moral and ethical dishonesty."

I'm dumbfounded by people thinking that he is more dishonest or crude than most politicians, or even most presidents, have been. If you subject most politicans (I deliberately won't say "all" here, but I do dare say "most") to the same kind of scrutiny that he has been subjected to, you would find a similar wolf. Not with the same exact weaknesses, but similar enough nonetheless.

Speaking of which: I still think Gingrich badly wants to be president, and smells this as his best shot to show off his "pretty" presidential wife. That and the talk show media atmosphere (high ratings and more newspaper sales) are driving this lunacy. If after 5 years of allegation after allegation of misconduct, the Lewinsky Affair is the only "impeachable" charge in Starr's report.... amazing to me.
