Pierre and all others who "wish the Banshee had come out x months sooner": please give this up! As I have said before, it would have REALLY been great if it came out 3 years ago- but it didn't. Was this an error? Weren't we just getting over the egg on our face from Rush? How credible would a 2d/3d solution be only 4 or 5 months after Rush? Why not come back with a product that we knew would get us back on top in a big way? Kick butt with V2, and put aside the bad press from Rush.

Ok. Next point: what makes anybody think that there would even have been a prayer that Banshee could have been released 6 mos ago? By using a V2 core, I think it would be safe to say that most of the work for the V2 had been completed. But how long did it take to make the 2D core? Hell they don't even seem to be ready with Banshee just yet either, as drivers continue to be upgraded all the time. And I have to think we have a LOT more R&D staff than we did at the end of last year. Bottom line, not bringing Banshee out early wasn't just a smart move (buck-a-share last 6 mos-strengthening of the name); it was the only move TDFX could have made. It was not a strategic error. It's kinda like WW2: if we had just dropped the bomb a few years earlier, we could have saved a lot of lives by ending the war more quickly. Only we couldn't- didn't have the technology.
