Personal attack? Can't focus on the debate? Which debate is that? Attacking the, uh, questionable things people say is not generally what the "ad hominem" technique is about, you know. But what the heck, I'm used to this, so I got to go back to context as usual.

In 10676, replying to the moderately polite mrknowitall, I write

Mr. K, as I said I'm not going into the definition business, but I got to go back to my profile for a definition on this one.

That one being the Microsoftese for "fair", a direct quote from Mike Maples. You hop in at 10709 with the clever

Well, if you do not even know the definition of "innovation", then you have no right to talk about innovation on this thread. Do you feel interesting for a person did not know 1+1=2 to talk about linear algebra ?

This doesn't have anything particular to do with anything I said, so I assume it's a personal attack, ok? If not, what exactly is it? Not to mention my usual sad and lengthy post on the current state of Microsoft "innovation", in 10716. That one's mostly quotes, about Microsoft, you know, you think that was a personal attack on you? Then, in the post you're replying to, 10713, I wrote:

Good cheesy high school debate trick, ed. Also good to see your usual grammatical precision at work.

The cheesy high school debate trick being the red herring about me defining "innovation". Grammatical precision is admittedly a cheap shot, but pretty relevant to what you wrote, wouldn't you say? So, what exactly is the debate on this thread that I should be focusing on? Who, exactly, is calling names here? Who hates you, ed? Not me, I don't know you. I don't hate Microsoft, though I fear them. I find the company interesting and entertaining, also. And I don't hate Bill personally either, again I know very little about him personally. But his public pronouncements give ample fuel to the sarcastic among us. John Dvorak had a solution for that. Or maybe the gospel according to Bill is "the truth" to you ed?

Cheers, Dan.
