GM,
Re: I'm worried that total consensus
could still turn out wrong. What would have to happen to make
recovery take 5-7 years, with the stock only going up 1.5x?

1. A comet hitting New York city or Tokyo.
2. Armeggedon
3. All the Bulls turning 100% bearish.
4. Aki's world-wide Depression
5. California falling into the Pacific.
6. AMAT gets bought out by GM and gets sold for scrap.
7. Alien invasion
8. Clinton having a sex change operation and running for president
again as a woman called Willamette.

Oh yea, I forgot one, Hell freezes over.

GM,
Seriously, if the "recovery" took 5-7 years then I would expect to
be buying AMAT at $4-5 per share and would buy as many shares as
I could and wait for 5-7 years, think of the gains you would have THEN.!!!! Probably on the order of 15x-25x. If you are truly worried
keep monitoring the insider stock sells, I think that would say something profound. If AMAT were that low just think what the other
equip mfg's would be valued at.
