penni: Descending triangles are a downtrend formation.

The trend begins the formation at a low. Lows are established along the same price plane. Highs slope downward.

Breakout is usually down with the trend.

I don't see a descending triangle on the 5 min actual Dow Industrial chart.

I do see in todays intra day actual 5-min chart a price rise into the start of a symetrical triangle. Its norm would be to break with the trend, that it formed from, up! However, it is a very short term formation and may portend only an intra day move.
