I was one of the reporters that investigated Watergate 24 years ago when I was
chief political correspondent for Newsweek magazine. And, as Yogi Berra
once said, I can't help but have a sense of deja vu all over again!

I think the release is going to have a devastating impact on the polls. My
experience in this type of thing is that pulbic opinion lags behind political reality.
It did in Watergate and in Iran-contra.

At this time impeachment is a very real and very grave threat to the Clinton
presidency.

As a political reporter, it seemed to me that the Republican were going to make
some gains in the midterm elections even before all of this happened. There is
no doubt that the president will be an issue in the campaign, and that the GOP
will attempt to use it in many races where they think it might help. So this does
improve the GOP chances to add to their strength in both the House and
Senate.

The contrition and apology the president expressed at the prayer breakfast was
very impressive, but it probably comes too late to change anything. The process
will go forward regardless; it's too bad he didn't say those things the way he
said them today, last January when it might have helped him avoid the trouble
he's in today.

<< Being pro-abortion is not the same as supporting someone's reproductive potential. >>

Being pro-abortion is not the same as being pro-choice.

I am totally against abortion, but I am completely in favor of choice. The abortion procedure is a terrible thing to do. But, for some there are things that are worse.

Someone who is pro-abortion, is someone who wants everyone to get an abortion, even if they don't want one. Even if they are not pregnant! <g>

At the same time, someone that is anti-abortion, such as myself, can either be pro-life or pro-choice.
