Absolutely. They can make a lot of money, but because they're a time-wasting investment, they can also lose a lot if you don't have perfect timing. I did not have perfect timing 4 months ago; I'd like to think my timing's getting better, and my account statements agree with that assessment. ;-)

But since you can control more stock for less money, you can ride it up faster.

I sold the Sep 55s and 65s I had today, right around 2 pm I think when Dell was near its low for the day (duh) but I made some money on the former and wanted to salvage the 1/4 point I had left on the latter before it turned into nothing.

Then I got busy working and didn't roll up to Nov, but I've already got some Nov calls and I think I'll just sit tight here; having sold them they help provide additional buffer room in case there is a correction. (I'm a safer player these days, no reason to "risk it all" -- fire teaches a good lesson. ;-)
