Michelle, the MSFT portals have been out. e.g.
home.microsoft.com
hotmail.com if you have a hotmail account and logout, it
brings you back to home.microsoft.com

also, msn.com
carpoint.com
the list goes on and on ...

However, seems that the first thing users do when the install a
new version of I.E. is that they (the users) switch their home page ...

The same exact thing goes on with AOL users ... the users mostly get
out of AOL and into the internet ...

Check out the latest report from Media Metrix and you'll see where the
traffic goes:

mediametrix.com

Now, what MSFT is trying to do is tie-in all these site under one
umbrella using MSN ... (pretty much like Microsoft office)
Will it work??? Time will only tell ...
