You make some good points. Matter of fact, $3000 is on the very low side, it is probably the cost of sharing one booth among the various partners. When I was involved with trade shows, we spent as much as $80,000 to $100,000, which included not only the basic booth fee, but hiring a PR company to do presentations, e.g., dramatic renderings featuring your product, giveaways to pull in customers, pre-show mailings, travel and expenses, etc. And as budgetary constraints took affect, we had to much more selective in terms of which shows provided payback. So Mr. Chin is correct in being careful as to which shows he participates in and at what expense. But, personally, I do think it is very important for DGIV to participate as much as posible on a reasonable cost basis.

Very good, Rocketman! Having done much "booth duty" myself, I can attest to what you are saying.

Sometimes having a booth is the right thing to do, and other times having a booth only gives your competitors a better idea as to what you are up to versus your customers. IMHO the best potential customers are usually the ones you have to visit.

Here's another idea that has worked quite well for shows I've attended...Set up your demos in a hotel room close to the show and invite prospective customers that are attending the show to come by.

RM,

I may be wrong, but I think that it was confirmed this morning that they would be in SF. I think that it also needs to be noted that the DC show mentioned, interested Europian people, that takes in a lot more than Russia. I know that Mr. Chin will not sit back and be satisfied with only Germany, Russia. Wonder where else he might be looking????
