Hi again Mark,

Accessing your own spirit isn't necessary. Accessing the Holy Spirit is.
New Age teaching attempts to reunite the link between our bodies and our spirits which God has severed. Scripture makes reference to our bodies our spirits and our souls. An applicable verse is "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit..." Hebrews 4:12
New Age, the occult practitioners, various forms of meditation all attempt this union which gets right out into the bizzare to most rational 9 to 5 people.
Practioners claim astral projection as do occultists and Satanists which is often a result of this link. (For anybody up on this subject I don't differentiate between occultists, satanists, or wicca however they do)
Showing how common this stuff is and how available the teaching is, I made mention in a post to Sam regarding a weight loss booklet that I found on the shelf at a major grocery chain at the check out. This book that would undoubtedly target a large percentage of the population, both young and old, could be bought for a buck or two and read in a matter of minutes.
It did the cursory obligatory speech on diet then delved into using a candle to stare at, emptying your mind, chant something pleasant and attempt to contact your inner spirit guide who would eventually appear if you stuck with the practise.
Sounds bizzare but it is common practise and is found everywhere. Just check out how big the New Age categories are in any book store. The bird cage linings called tabloids are filled with it (and are read by millions) and it's not so subtedly in most school libraries as well.
Sam is professing similar doctrine which is spiritualism and not Christianity as depicted in what he hates so fervently.

God bless,
John

p.s. I never had you pegged for an occultist (now where did I put that garlic and wolfbane....):0)
