"A knee jerk reaction, IMO. "

Well, when you get right down to it, all market responses to news, be it positive or negative, could be characterized as "knee jerk reaction", so what? To so easily dismiss news which contradicts one's theory of where the market is going is potentially hazardous to one's pocketbook, IMO.

"Where's the beef???"

Well, for one thing, Intel said they were still spending 4.7 Billion or so on capital outlay this year. Not all of that is the DEC acquisition (about half, if memory serves me) so the statements which someone posted from a recent technology conference which characterized the equipment business as "dead" would appear to be an exaggeration.
