Mr. K. you are distorting what Gary said. The point is that Clinton's and Kennedy's and Eisenhower's and any number of other president's personal sex lives are simply not germane to their conduct in office. Starr is the American version of the papparazzi, who hounded Princes Diana to her death. Maybe we will appoint Jerry Springer as the next special prosecutor. Prosecutor for prurience. Fawn Brodie, the historian, has claimed that Jefferson fathered a bastard child by a slave he owned. Suppose Jefferson was asked about this relationship and lied out of personal embarrassment. Would he have been any less a president? Similarly Clinton lied about an affair with Lewinsky out of personal embarrassment. Remember, he admitted to extra-marital affairs in his deposition in the Jones case, so clearly one more affair would not have helped Jones' case. Now how is that any different than the hypothetical I have tossed you? There was nothing in the reports regarding the serious issues raised by Clinton's critics: illegal use of FBI files for personal political purposes, and intentional campaign law violations. Mr. K. Let's be clear about one thing. The only thing that Clinton has been dishonest about is his personal extra-marital affairs. Not that I condone this but at no time has he been found to be dishonest about anything else contrary to the innuendo and investigations that have been launched against him in order to impune his credibility. I for one, don't care about CLintons personal life and given what I've seen have no basis to believe that his actions and decisions in his personal life have been mirrored in his political life. OG
