OTOT
That's no answer! In the first place, Ben Franklin was never our president, that I recall. This guy has sworn to uphold the law of the
land. He sets the standards for us all. Maybe he's not guilty of "high crimes", but these are serious misdemeanors, IMO.
If he can flout the law of the land, why can't any/all of us?
BTW, if it's just sex, what if he decides he wants to play with 2 or 3
popsies at the same time IN OUR OVAL OFFICE, is that OK?
What if he wants to play games with a consenting adult MALE?
Is that OK? where do we draw the line? or don't we?

Ben Franklin had several dozen illegitimate children. Maybe we should punish him and give the country retroactively back to the British?

Typical post-modern thinking. "If it was OK then, why isn't it OK now?" Remember that George Washington owned slaves. It was OK then, so why isn't it OK now?

I'm personally waiting for Bill Clinton to follow in the footsteps of Charles Barkley and declare "I am not a role model. I'm only elected to be president of the United States." Remember a time when a concept called honor was synonymous with the position of presidency?

OT: Ben Franklin's Illegitimate Child(ren)

Franklin had and acknowledged one illegitimate son -- William -- who supposedly helped him in his lightning experiments and whom he dearly loved. It is not sure who his mother was, but it is possible that it was Deborah who later married Ben and took in William and treated him as a member of the family. William often accompanied Ben in his official duties -- and was awarded an honorary master's degree when his father was awarded an honorary doctorate by Oxford. William, in time, was appointed Royal Governor of New Jersey and adhered to the King during the revolution, being imprisoned by the rebels. This led to a break, and they were never reconciled. Temple, William's illegitimate son (it seemed to run in the family) accompanied Ben to Paris, served as his secretary, had affairs of his own, and edited some of Ben's papers. Nice family.
