Geac Announces SmartStream Reconciliations Wins

MARKHAM, ONTARIO--Geac today announced that it has recently signed
contracts with the Deutsche Bank, Lombard Odier & Cie and Credit
Agricole to purchase Geac's SWIFTReady Gold Label SmartStream
Reconcilications product.

Deutsche Bank, through its securities arm Deutsche Morgan
Grenfell, will be implementing SmartStream Reconcilications's cash
and securities reconciliation and investigation product for its
global securities operations worldwide. SmartStream
Reconcilications is the only product that met its need for a high
volume, end to end back office automation product.

SmartStream Reconciliation is also gaining ground in Switzerland,
where Lombard Odier & Cie, one of the country's most prestigious
private banks purchased SmartStream Reconciliations to replace an
aging proprietary reconciliations product. The initial
installation is underway in Geneva with global implementation
planned for later this year.

In France, Geac made its first major strategic sale to Indosuez
Asset Management, the investment management subsidiary of Credit
Agricole. With recently enhanced sales capabilities, Credit
Agricole will be a leverage point for future Reconciliations sale
in France.

SmartStream Reconciliations has also secured significant
additional software licenses from existing customers including
Lloyds Bank, Nomura Securities, Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers, in
London and New York, and Barclays Global Investors.

SmartStream Reconcilications is the only commercially available
product to receive the SWIFT Ready Gold Label endorsement for its
compliance to S.W.I.F.T. standards for services and
straight-through-processing. Its many features include generic
investigations and matching capabilities, Euro compliance,
extensive cash management, securities balance analysis, position
keeping and holdings reconciliations.

Founded in 1971, Geac is a provider of mission critical enterprise
applications, supplying industry specific software to nine

YEAR 2000 SOLUTIONS

As the Year 2000 approaches, many companies are reviewing their products and internal systems infrastructure to address potential problems in the accurate processing of calendar date data. Geac
Computer Corporation Limited (Geac) is among this group of companies which are responding to this challenge.

While Geac, together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, has a policy not to complete any specific questionnaires or similar forms regarding Year 2000, Geac has a comprehensive testing methodology in
place for reviewing its internal systems infrastructure and the development process for its application software solutions. Geac is also striving to meet customers' needs for Year 2000 with regard to Geac software, allowing ample time for implementation and deployment before the turn of the century.

Software, which is Year 2000 "Compliant" shall be architected to enable the following capabilities: (1) date data century recognition, (2) calculations that accommodate same century, cross-century,
multi-century formulas and date values, and (3) date data interface values that either reflect and include the indication of the century or when necessary to determine the century of inputs, determine the century, based on specific rules provided that all other technology (including but not limited to hardware, software,
firmware and interfaces) properly exchanges accurate date and date-related data with such software.

Geac has taken reasonable measures to successfully test for Y2K Compliance. Geac also wants to ensure that its customers are properly informed about the Year 2000 status of its products, so that they in
turn, can be well prepared.

For most Geac software, compliant versions of Geac-written software as well as third party software which is embedded in the Geac-written software (the "Versions") are either available or will be made
available in ample time for installation before the Year 2000. In some cases, existing customers may be required to be on Geac's most current release before upgrading to the Versions. All of Geac's current customers operating Geac-written software and any embedded third party software have been or will be notified in writing of the status and plans for the Geac written software system they currently operate. Customers who are currently operating software for which Compliant versions will not be made available, are being notified in writing of this fact and it is Geac's intention to work with them to identify a migration path toward a Compliant Version.

Geac is taking reasonable measures to successfully test the Versions for Compliance. With respect to third party embedded software, Geac is testing same only to the extent that such third party software is
required to be used with the Versions.

Year 2000 testing of the Versions can only be conducted in simulated test environments prior to January 1, 2000. As you know, software is of an inherently complex nature and is operated in a variety of
environments so that the various combinations of application software, operating system software, firmware and hardware, along with various interfaces and customer's usage creates a universe of
testing possibilities. Therefore, while Geac employs commercially reasonable test methodologies, not every situation or environment can be predicted and tested for. In particular, Geac has not tested any
modifications (ie; any coding changes not part of its standard release, regardless of who made the modifications.) to its standard software applications. The only way to be assured that you will achieve accurate Year 2000 results, is for you to test the software before utilizing it in a production environment, and regularly thereafter until well into the Year 2000.

Should you wish to obtain more specific information pertaining to the software that you currently operate, please refer to the web page of the appropriate Geac Division. Alternatively, you can contact your Sales Representative or your Customer Support Representative.
