Lew might not be saying anything positive for fear of raising expectations. The last thing HP needs, is to raise expectations and then not be able to meet the newly raised expectations.

Maybe HP wants to shock everyone by beating expectations this qtr.

One thing we know. PC, workstation and server demand is much stronger than it was in the previous qtr.

(NewsTraders) -- Hewlett Packard (HWP) expects to incur $150 million of special charges in the fourth quarter, according to its 10Q filing today at the SEC.

The company said the charges are related to "actions designed to reduce costs and expenses" that are currently underway. The charges will primarily impact cost of sales, and to a lesser extent, operating expenses.

Hewlett Packard also said it will have to continue to adjust prices of many of its products to stay competitive and will have to manage financial returns with reduced growth margins.
