But at the time the question was asked, the judge ordered him to answer the question, and he had no knowledge the testimony was going to be thrown out later. He has to answer the question and tell the truth. Otherwise it's perjury.

Yes, but the crux of that case was whether or not Clinton propositioned Jones by dropping his pants. I think it is very relevant to ask if he had previously propositioned other subordinates in a similar fashion.
