Wrong.

Reagan gave us much of our present prosperity. Because of his reforms the US is the envy of the world. The resulting economic growth and the end of the Cold War gave us our balanced budget. The 1994 elections took economic policy away from Clinton and gave it to the Republicans after the diasterous policy fiascos of his first two years.

Historians now rate Reagan as one of three GREAT presidents of this century, Teddy Roosevelt and FDR are the other two. Clinton will rank below Nixon - at least Nixon had a competent foreign policy.

The President proposes. Congress disposes. You ought to read the Constitution sometime. The blame for the deficit is squarely at the feet of the then Dumbocrat controlled Congress. JLA

You can blame the social spending on entitlements for the huge debt. It's been the lion's share of the budget since the 70's. As far as highways and bridges and overdevelopment, that is the local governments screwing it up. As for medical system mess, it's been a mess since the government medical system has been shifting its costs to the private sector and the excessive overhead required to deal with third-party payers like HMOs, HCFA, and insurance companies. Have you noticed how many people in the doctor's office are non-medical staff?
