John,
Slogans like "It's the economy, stupid!" worked in the last elections. For the y2k sector, will "It's the IT outsourcing, - " work? Forget about y2k. Look at the shortage of skilled programmers and look at the rate the Fortune 500 have eliminated the IT professionals from their core businesses. Why the Congress increased the number of H1B visas? Was not there pressure from high technology companies? Why there is such a demand for the skilled labor? There are not enough workers. Will the situation change next year? No. The engineering enrollment in colleges has gone up in recent years but too soon to catch up with the demand. Classes are full and overflowing. Fortune 500 companies that have hired computer programmers have not succeeded in getting the y2k projects done on time and budget. Fixed bid contracts are better? CBSI, SYNT, MAST and IMRS have shown that they could beat earnings estimate every qtr. How could they do it? It is not just cheap labor. Ram
