Scumbria,

I share some of your sentiments, but you have to remember this was a unique set of circumstances that led to this saga. Star didn't dig up this evidence against Clinton; it was brought to him. There was evidence that Clinton and Lewinski had or were about to lie under oath in the Paula Jones case; Star turned it over to J. Reno; Reno reviewed the evidence and petitioned the court to expand the investigation and sent it back to Star to investigate. The basis for expanding the investigation was charges of perjury and not the affair. In other words Reno and Star view charges of perjury as very serious. After all, in many court cases it is the testimony of litigants and witnesses that determine the outcome. If there is no penalty for perjury then expect a lot of perjury.

Clinton got himself into this predicament with reckless behavior, confidently lying and ridiculously parsing words.

That is not to say I don't have any sympathy for him or his family because I do. I listened to his sincere apology and although he perjured himself, when all is considered, I believe Clinton should be censured and not impeached.
