To Valueman: As usual, careful and clear. Very helpful post. Am thankful that the G* had no LEAPS - otherwise I probably would be holding some today. :-) But I did buy a bit on Friday before the launch to add to my holdings. Thought by then price had discounted market debacle and launch risk. Wrong. :-( Reminds me of the old cartoon "Well, back to the ole drawing board". To me the Q looks best of the Q, LOR, G* triumvirate over the next year. Fortunately, my heaviest weight has been with the Q, Loral next and much less G*. But who knows. Time will tell. Thanks for your analysis and views. Respect. Chaz

Valueman:

Dont make the same mistake the market just made. "The best laid plans of mice and men..." BS and company make the plans. It is what they are responsible for. Sometime, somewhere something is going to jump up and bite them (us) which we have no control over. It has happened before and it will happen again. Dont take that occurrence as a failure on the management team's part and bail. The market is not a rational beast. Keep valuing the companies on the demand that is out there and who is meeting the demand.

I agree with Slick but with a different frame of reference. Cash is King. The current market will reward money making business. The ends of bull markets have people paying too much for future earnings. The start of bear markets swing the pendulum too far in the other direction and has people too concerned with current positive cash flows. The money opportunities are to be in the 'other' camp. It may take time for the pendulum to swing back. The best thing about the Loral/G* set up is that the time frame is known. One year, two at most and you will know. No need to wait and think about bears and bulls. G* is far enough along that it will be finished. The recent market downturn only serves to help keep the field to I* and G*; and that oddly enough, protects against the small future delays. Surfer Mike is quite right, what is another couple of dollars on the down side? Your numbers are no different now - they are just delayed. Delayed what 6 months, a year? What is the time value of your money? Mine is not so high as to warrant me the get out here. I can wait. Things might not be great in two years but if they are, I will not be kicking myself because I let some uncontrollable events push me out of a stock that I believed in.
