The banking mess was created by the real estate mania of the 80's. Congressman in both parties were responsible for looking the other way and getting political contributions. As long as you're looking at this area, Clinton/Clinton made off with $ 60 million from the Madison Guaranty. They personally benefitted from the fraud, using part of the money to finance gubernatorial campaign, and fraudulent loans to finance their sham investment.

>Then you had the HUD scandal.

The HUD scandals have been going on for decades.

>Then the defense contractor scandal. Horrible President.

I would agree with you about the wasteful and corrupt defense spending. The same thing is also ongoing with the annual Highway bills, etc.

>Bush; now there was a President history will hold up; a Truman type.

I agree with you about Quayle. He's a lightweight. Other than the Gulf War, which may have resulted from Bush's appeasement of Saddam, I can't see any accomplishments. Most of the peace initiatives have derived from the Gulf War and then squandered during Clinton's term.
