Frank, I agree that there are carriers utilizing a mix of circuit switched and VOIP. Apparently, even AT&T, Sprint and the likes are doing it. No big deal! And it makes little difference to me as a consumer what technology these carriers use as long as I pay the low price I pay, and the voice signal is clear. However, with IDT, the rates they charge, they've have to be significantly VOIP (given how low cost VOIP is) rather than CSwithed (and we do know that VOIP already costs about a 10th of CS). Also, remember, a chain is only as strong as its weakest link - if VOIP was the weak link, no amount of vocoding technology would bring it back to CS standards I experienced while calling Europe. In Summary - if IDT is using a mix of VOIP and CS to give me my service, and they can do it profitably, they've definitely got some hot sh** company on their hands (by the way, the latest issue of Inter@ctive has their share of the VOIP market at 30%!)
