Earlier posts on either this thread or the "Boink" thread included the text from Starr's report that explained that this sex stuff was being submitted seperately from the rest of the investigation. I'm fairly confidant that we will get our money's worth from Starr's $40 mil. Scratch that-- we never get our money's worth from Washington. But, by government standards, we'll get it. <G>

We are in agreement on the trivialization problem; that's why most of us conservatives were opposed to the Independent Council legislation that was pushed so hard by the Dems. The Dems wanted that legislation to get at Republican presidents. I think it is pretty certain that when the law sunsets, that will be the end of it. At least, I sure hope so. The IC investigation for Reagan's HUD is still meandering along, with no conclusion is sight.

I certainly have no insight to Starr's process, but I suspect that because of the noise level of this Monica thing that Starr wanted to get the heat off of his office and passed it off to Congress. If Congress does actually complete the impeachment or force a resignation, the rest of the material he uncovered (Whitewater, travel office, FBI files, etc) may include some criminal charges that can be brought against "Private Citizens Bill & Hillary." There is some real animosity, I believe, between the Clintons and Starr, and they are in a fight to the bitter end. So, it would not surprise me if Starr wants to see some jail time for this pair. I share that desire, but I can only cheer from the sidelines.
