Lowered estimates, I just dont understand.

From what I've read, every single analyst has now lowered their estimates for Amazon to basically show TWICE as large a loss as just a few months ago. Their losses are now 100% worse than they were a while ago. Is this a scam or what? Of course Amazon will now "beat" estimates, they've been lowered through the floor.

Why don't they just lower the estimates to a loss of 20 dollars per share, then Amazon can "beat" estimates by 19 dollars per share! Or is there some rule of thumb about how far brokerages can lie to the public, ie only a dollar or so?

Does anyone else out there find this sort of activity borderline criminal?
