As I understand it, Japan's acknowledged requirement for bailing out the banks is 3 times the amount the S&L bailout cost the US. The actual number is rising and no one knows where it will end. One thing for sure, it will get worse if they continue to procrastinate.

However, I can't argue that they have some great companies and that there may be some great buys in 6-12 months. As to hard working- I see many Asian countries with hungrier and more aggressive labor, albeit with far less education and ability.
