Brad:
What you point out is worrisome to me, but what really bothers me is that in five years the S&P500, The Dow, and the NAZ have not ever gone under their 200 day moving average in any kind of meaningful way.
THey are all way under it now.

The SOX and RUT went under their 200 day moving average earlier this year and both have been ravaged.

at best, I am looking for a test of the 200dma's. for SP500 that is about 1050, for the Dow, 8450, for the NAZ, 1740. I suspect the DOW and the Naz may not even make it that high as the S&P will get their first, hit resistance, and take the rest of the market back down with it.

To see the significance of the 200dma, just take a look at the SOX chart. quote.yahoo.com^SOXX&d=1ym

Brad the world economies are pointing to a prolonged slowdown. IF lucky nothig worst than that.

To my surprise nobody is talking on this tread about the dissaster in China and tehir banking system which is on hte verge of collapse.

Now China is no Russia, as it is much poorer in narutral resources, much more populos and not as open as Russia.

IMHO China and Japan are now and were for the last 12 months the big "wild card"

Now this is a fundamental assesment and the market still can run up 5% next week only to crater later.

Brad,

What I am MORE concerned about is the DOW 200 day MA is about to cave. It is about flat now with up one day and down the next as we drop off historical values and pick up the new ones. That happened only briefly in 1994-5 period just as the markets bottomed.

I wouldn't be concerned about SOX... the 5 year shows it has done this thing before:
