Um, Hellooooo... All you guys supporting V2 over TNT and you don't even talk about SLI?? I knew it! You guys are all shorts!!! :P

Seriously, though, here is how I look at it: TNT is only worth a hoot on a high end system, P2-400+. Don't even think about it for any socket 7 based systems. Ok, presumably if you have a P2-400, you also have a bx motherboard. Ok- PERHAPS you just upgraded your MB. More likely (for the masses) you have a pretty new system over all. Which means you have a graphics card that does damned good 2D. OK. Since you have 2D, all you need is 3D. Ok. TNT is fast, but unproven. V2 is as fast, (if not faster-and can be overclocked) and proven to be a very stable chip. TNT offers 32bpp color in 3D, as well as AGP support. V2 does not. Games don't take advantage of these features yet, however. Why, because V2 doesn't support them! Developers are targeting the V2 capable system right now.

Compatibility? V2 hands down. THere are many games you can't play on TNT. THere are many games that come out optimized for V2 first, then come out for DX. There are some games that come out that support DX that run on V2 and not other D3D cards (FF7). And who knows what kind of problems TNT will have once it is out there on a variety of machine configurations and playing a wide variety of games.

The future? V2 hands down. Glide continues to grow, add features, support the latest cutting edge hardware improvements, and is backwards compatible. Everybody else is at the mercy of MSFT. Oh yeah, want better performance in the future? Slap in another V2 board for SLI.

Cost? EB World had a bargain bin special yesterday: a CREAF V2 12 mb board with 3 good games for $219. And CREAF will give you a $50 rebat. Same price as TNT. Or you can check out Best Data with no games for less than a TNT. If you really want a single slot choice, get a Banshee. Better 2D just as fast as TNT, and much better compatiblity and support.

TDFX is committed to gamers. By supporting them, you send the game development community a message: 3Dfx is our, the gamers, choice. Make it the standard, and give us compatibility and the plug and play ease of a console like the playstation.

Lastly, do you really want to support a slimy company like nVidia that has NEVER come through with their promises?
