<<Bateman holds early lead in Washington Richland, WA (TSN) - Brian Bateman fired a six-under-par 66 and holds a one-shot lead after the first round of the NIKE Tri-Cities Open at the Meadow Springs Country Club. Bateman knocked in a two-foot putt on his last hole to hold off the rest of the tight field, as 18 players are within three shots of the lead. Casey Martin, Deane Pappas and Garrett Willis are tied for second at five-under-par. Martin notched his first-career hole-in-one on the 15th hole with a seven iron. Martin won the first event on the 1998 NIKE Tour season, the Lakeland Classic. Five players are tied for fourth at five-under, including Craig Kanada and local favorite Clint Jensen>> Master Bateman, Stick to golf. When you work that keyboard, grownups get angry.
