Something to think about:

3dnow.net

"Intel Executives Join Up with Cheech and Chong 12:26am EST

Well, not really, but you would think so after reading PC Week's
article about Intel's plans to provide low cost, high power systems.
Ha! Their plan is to have Katmai systems start at the $2500+ range in
the first quarter of '99, and then in the second quarter have them
lowered to the cost of $1500-$2000. This winter I'll bet you'll be
able to get an AMD-K6-2 450MHz system for around $1200 (nicely
equipped), and by the end of next summer you'll hopefully be able to
get a K7 one for around the same price. Of course these are my
personal projections :). I just don't understand how or why Intel
would design a new instruction set targetted for gamers and then offer
it at such an unattractive price. Three cheers for AMD for developing
a great SIMD instruction set that can be used (and is) in "real" low
cost CPUs. Click to read the article - Intel chip strategy hinges on
low cost, high power."

I am thinking the same thing as the author of that site. Look how many hits on his website after being up for less than 3 months. That is quite impressive. I guess there are a lot of users who are interested in 3DNOW. Also there are 4 other similar 3DNOW sites including one in Russian and one in Polish.

Maxwell, Re: People tell me that the K7 architecture is similar to Alpha 21264

There is one thing I don't quite understand. Digital(Now
part of Compaq) has been in this Alpha business for quite
some time and still they have problem releasing 21264.

Since K7 will be here in 1H99, would that imply that AMD's
engineers are much much more smarter than Digital's ? And
if they are that smart, how come they have so many problems
in the K5, K6 product ?

Re: "I know the Alpha 21264 architecture well. I know that the the Alpha 21264 is currently the champ in Spec95 (int/fpu). People tell me that the K7 architecture is similar to Alpha 21264. Thus it is a no brainer to conclude that the K7 logic core will outperform PII core. "

Is this what you are basing your claims on??? The Alpha and the K7 will share a bus architecture.. That's all... You use that to backup your claims of K7 performance????? Maxwell, I am beginning to see what Yousef was going through. Once again, you have presented only hype and no facts. I am getting embarrassed on your behalf.
